Frustration city

The reason I've been silent for over 2 months is because my hard drive crashed on my laptop. If you ever wonder how dependent we are on computers, try being without one for any given length of time. Yep, I have a smart phone, but the screen is too small to actually get any writing done effectively and yep I have a tablet but everyone knows there is much to be desired when it comes to word recognition software. Also, after 50 decades of typing I'm not extremely fast at swiping, yet either. So, although I'm grateful to have access to a laptop once again, I'm still frustrated because of two things: I haven't figured out how to load my purchased Microsoft Office on to it AND I started yelling at this inanimate object about 10 minutes in to using Windows 8...OMG did they design this while they were strung out on 50 kinds of drugs at one time or something? Can you even buy a computer without Windows 8 anymore? Stop the tech world, I want to get off! I'll admit it, I'm in my golden years...but I've been using many different computers and programs and software versions since the 80s and just when I get really comfortable with a type of program, they go and change it!  Take for instance Windows XP...I LOVED that version...and I bet a lot of other users did too. But presto, no more support for it means it is now ready for the trash heap. You know how it is with a classic car like a '57 Chevy? Everybody loved them for a reason and they never have gone out of style or down in value. Maybe someone should bring that concept to computer designing teams' attention. Or maybe instead of dreaming up the next version every 15 minutes they could do something much more worthwhile...LIKE CREATING A COMPUTER THAT NEVER CRASHES IN THE FIRST PLACE!
